Team-Building with 360° Feedback for Leaders in Health Care

Seasoned healthcare executives know that their success and the success of their organizations depend on management groups working together smoothly in productive teams.

At Communication Excellence Institute, we have developed a results-oriented team-building and 360° Feedback program for leaders in health care, often conducted as part of a two-day management retreat. CEI's skilled objective facilitators create groups in which members identify with the team, value individual strengths and diversity, and receive concrete honest feedback from other members of their team. Participants in CEI's Team-building learn to:

  • Contribute to a positive team culture throughout the organization.
  • Build responsiveness to major organizational stakeholders—the Board of Directors, internal and external customers, and other cross-functional teams
  • Respect the diversity of individual style differences and make each person's strengths work for the benefit of the team.
  • Create an atmosphere of mutual trust.
  • Identify personal and organizational barriers to team effectiveness.
  • Address "real" issues so that the results of their work have immediate impact on organizational performance.
  • Handle feedback from other team members regarding their communication styles, management practices, and behavioral characteristics.
  • Hold themselves and other team members accountable for commitments for personal growth and development.

Your team-building facilitators, nationally recognized specialists in communication and organizational development, come to your preferred location for two full days of team-building sessions. (We strongly recommend that the team-building be held off-site, away from phones and distractions.)

On the first day, we focus on each participant as a team player, by administering selected executive testing instruments such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument. On the second day, the emphasis shifts to the team as a whole, as we facilitate the group's priority-setting of defined goals.

Between day one and day two, each member receives a computer-generated confidential, and detailed report summarizing the results of a 360° Feedback exercise administered about three weeks before the team-building. The report includes some 50 characteristics of each team member's management and communication styles as rated by all other team members as well as by oneself. This report can also include an assessment of the team's overall dynamics as an optional component. These reports form the basis for examining the group's interactions and self-image, all while maintaining the utmost confidentiality.

We also provide each participant with a customized workbook containing descriptions of each person's individual style, support materials for group tests to be administered during the sessions, worksheets for defining the organizational culture, lists for establishing team priorities, action plan forms for individual priorities, and accountability measures with time tables. The 50-plus page book each team member receives also includes relevant articles on team performance.

Healthcare organizations that have offered CEI's Team-Building comment that their teams improved their interpersonal relationships and productivity, reduced the intensity and frequency of conflict within their teams and the organization as a whole, and created a culture of mutual respect and accountability.

The fee for Team-Building With 360° Feedback for Leaders in Health Care is $10,900 plus facilitators' expenses and the cost of any copyrighted instruments used. This reflects $3,950 per day for the two-day team-building session for up to ten team members plus $3,000 for the 360° Feedback. (When included in the two-day Team-Building, CEI's 360° Feedback is reduced from its stand-alone price of $6,000 to $3,000.) Additional participants beyond ten are $200 each. CEI provides all session workbooks, customized 360° reports for each participant, audiovisual materials, and team-building facilitation by recognized experts.

CEI's Team-Building can also be offered in a one-day format for $3,950 and a two-day format without the 360° Feedback for $7,900 plus facilitators' expenses and the cost of any copyrighted instruments used. However, we strongly recommend incorporating the 360° Feedback within the two-day Team-Building for maximum effectiveness.
